Madison County Court Dockets

Madison County court records in Indiana are available through several channels. MadisonINCourt.us allows you to search for public information on court cases in the county. Additionally, the MyCase platform from the Indiana Judicial Branch provides online access to case materials. For documents not available online, contact the Clerk of the Circuit Court's office in person or by mail. Public terminals in the courthouse also allow you to view the records.

Madison Court System & Jurisdictions

Several courts operate in Madison County, each handling specific categories of cases. Understanding the jurisdiction will help you find the needed record faster.

Circuit Court is the main court of the county. It handles serious criminal cases (felonies), complex civil lawsuits, and probate cases (the legal process of distributing a deceased person's estate). One Circuit Court judge also oversees guardianship and adoption cases.

The six divisions of the Superior Court distribute the remaining workload:

  • Criminal cases of misdemeanor level and lower-level felonies
  • Civil lawsuits, including small claims (up to $10,000)
  • Family cases: divorce, paternity establishment, child support
  • Traffic violations and juvenile offenses

If you are unsure which court is handling your case, start your search on MyCase — the system will show which division the specific case is assigned to. The Madison County page on the Indiana Judicial Branch website contains contact information for each judge and division.

Madison Court Calendar & Upcoming Hearings

You can find out the date of the next hearing in several ways — none of which require a visit to the court.

  1. MyCase. Enter the party's name or case number (cause number) on mycase.in.gov. The case card displays scheduled hearings with date, time, and room.
  2. Direct contact with the court. Call the clerk's office at (765) 641-9443 and provide the case number. Staff will confirm the hearing date or inform you of any rescheduling.
  3. Public terminals. Computers for self-searching the schedule are available at the Madison County Government Center (16 E 9th St, Anderson).

Individual judges' calendars are sometimes published on the county page of the Indiana Judicial Branch. Note: the schedule may change without notice, so check the information the day before the hearing.

How to Get a Copy of a Madison Court Document

Most court documents in Madison County are considered public, except for sealed cases, juvenile case materials, and certain family cases with restricted access. Below are three ways to obtain a copy.

Online

On MyCase, some documents are available for download directly from the case card in PDF format. However, not all materials are digitized — if the required document is missing, contact the clerk's office.

In Person

Visit the Clerk of the Circuit Court's office:

Madison County Clerk of the Circuit Court
16 E 9th St, Room 213Anderson, IN 46016Phone: (765) 641-9443Email: lsmith@madisoncounty.in.gov

Request a regular (uncertified) or certified copy. A certified copy bears the clerk's seal and confirms the document's authenticity — it is required for submission to other courts, government agencies, or when completing legal procedures. A regular copy is suitable for review.

By Mail

Send a written request specifying the case number, document title, and type of copy (certified or uncertified) to:

Madison County Clerk of the Circuit Court
PO Box 1277Anderson, IN 46016

Include a check or money order for the appropriate amount. The clerk processes requests in the order received.

For recorded documents related to real estate (deeds, mortgages, liens), contact the Madison County Recorder's Office. This office is responsible for land records according to IC 36-2-11, not court cases.
